Disposition Choices

Disposition is the method in which your loved one will be laid to rest. It's perhaps the most important decision when planning a funeral since it will influence most other decisions for final service. The choice for disposition is a very personal one and although there are times when the arrangements are made ahead of time, most times they were not.

There are two disposition choices:

  • Cremation
  • Casket burial (or Entombment)

Cremation

In the United States, approximately 30% of Americans chose cremation and that number is increasing every day. One of the principle reasons is cost. With traditional burials easily exceeding $10,000, the cremation option is less expensive averaging about $2,000, and even less depending upon the other arrangements.

Another reason why cremation is becoming so popular as a disposition choice is due to environmental concerns. With less land available, cremating a loved one offers a variety of ways to save the ashes in handcrafted bronze or solid wood urns, glass blown jewelry,  or truly unique keepsakes. If scattering is the option, many families choose scattering ashes at sea or by a favorite lake or field, on top of mountain or even out of an airplane. Regardless of the option, the funeral or services director will certainly have a selection for you. However, you can save a lot of money by buying directly from distributers like www.memorialsforeternity.com.

Burial

The total cost for funeral and burial averages $6,500 and is on the rise. And if you haven’t planned in advance, expect more like $10,000 or more.

One of the ways to lower costs is to purchase caskets, monuments and markers directly from third party providers like Memorials for Eternity. We eliminate the middle men and pass those savings directly to you. Please go to Monuments and Memorial Photos to see our selection of high quality memorials to honor your loved ones, and don't forget our Price Match Guarantee.

Remember, you are protected by law to choose the memorials that you want for your loved one, and therefore have the right to buy funeral goods and services from those other than the funeral home.
